Spring Lake, Michigan
In July of 2010, we were having a yard sale to raise some funds for our group. Shawn and her daughter came to our sale on that day. When she came up to pay for some items she wanted, she noticed that Bill was reading a book on the paranormal. So, conversation went from that to her talking about events that had been occurring in her home.
Shawn had several things happening including everything from plumbing problems and dripping faucets, to humming and whistling sounds that have no explanation. Shawn's daughter even had strange feelings as though some one was in her room. Shawn also revealed some family secrets like, several of the females in her family have had dreams, visions, and feelings of sorts. They have dreamed of family deaths, and deaths of famous people before they have occurred. Also, things such as accidents have come to them ahead of the incident itself. They do not believe that they are psychic, but they can't explain these things away logically.
On July 28, 2010 we met with Shawn and her daughter to do our interview. During the interview Shawn went over the things that she had talked to Bill about earlier. She also told us of other events like smelling a rotten egg smell, and also smoke. She had seen shadows moving in the living room and moving towards the front of the house. There have also been doors that have opened and closed without her or her daughter touching them. Things have been moved or come up missing, such as a necklace that Shawn had placed in a specific spot, it came up missing for 3 months and all of a sudden showed back up one day in a drawer on the other side of the room. Plus, they have a cat that tends to run and hide from time to time without any explanation as to why.
Before going to Shawn's for our investigation, we told our investigators nothing about the home, except for the fact that it was about 100 years old. Our team had NO previous information on the house or it's residents. As far as the 3 Founders of the group, we knew about the age of the house, and what Shawn and her daughter had experienced, and that was it!! We felt this would be a challenging “test” to see what our investigators could come up with on their own. The 3 Founders did not take part in the investigation with any of the other members so they would not be led to any conclusions.
On August 21, 2010, we went to Shawn's house to begin our investigation. Attending this investigation were Bill, Connie, Nancy, Pat, Lindsey, and Kerri. We also had a guest with us named Alec, who was doing a little filming of his own on a short documentary about G.R.A.S.P.P.
We used many kinds of equipment. Everything from Mel-Meters to Audio Recorders, Video recorders, and EMF meters. We had a few times where the EMF spiked and people had some strange feelings. Lindsey was actually holding the Mel-Meter when it spiked at one point, and she said the hair on the back of her neck was standing up. Later, up in the attic crawl space, Lindsey and Kerri found a painting. This painting was done in 1965 as a gift “to Dad” (the landlord's father) and was from the landlord's sister. Also, there were a couple of different moments when Kerri and Lindsey where in the house doing some EVP work and they came up with some names. The names were Leslie, and a “P” name, either a Peter or a Paul, is what the gals seem to fixed on. But all in all, it seemed pretty peaceful.
It became a more interesting a little later when we decided to remove the painting from the attic. Kerri and Lindsey felt that the picture should NOT be moved. These two ladies became quite adamant that we should not bother this painting, this was just a little bit out of character for them... but we couldn't resist, so we brought it out and took a peek. We did place it back where it was found afterward.
When we returned to Shawn's with our findings on the investigation, we told her of the names “Leslie”, and either a “Peter or Paul”, but that the gals had felt a name beginning with a “P” was of importance here. Shawn just kind of shook here head, and said she didn't know anything about any of those names. A couple of days later, Shawn called and said she had talked to her landlord, and found out that his Dad's name was Leslie, and that he was born and died in the house. Also, the Landlord's Grandfather was named Peter, and the landlord's son's name was Paul. The Landlord's Father, Leslie, had died in the house of a massive heart attack. He died in Shawn's daughter's bedroom, which is in the front of the house. Strange, but soooo interesting.
We did catch some whistling on one of our EVP recordings, and to our surprise, it freaked Shawn out, because she had heard this before, and couldn't find an explanation for it. She had made a recording of the sound of whistling on her phone, She recreated it because she wanted to remember it. The tune matched with what we had picked up.
Shawn and her daughter have since moved out of this residence, and thus far have not had any activity at their new home. We have done some “Zenner” testing with with Shawn and her daughter to try and find some evidence of psychic ability. These tests are ongoing and we will post the results at a later date.
